Discussion:
Elvis Cousin Gene Smith
(too old to reply)

Gene Smith died on March 2, 1999, believing that he, and his beloved first
cousin, Elvis Presley, would one day be vindicated.

When Elvis was targeted for surveillance and harassment by Hoover's FBI, Gene
knew that he would also be targeted by these same forces because he was totally
loyal and devoted to Elvis.

Since Elvis's death in 1977, status quo, disinformation "biographers" have
labored to daub in a portrait of Elvis as a "mindless junky" and these same
forces have labored to malign and discredit Gene Smith as a "moron" and a
person of "no worth." Why is it important for establishment "authorities" to
undermine Gene Smith?

Was it because Gene Smith was the cousin who engineered the taking of the
photograph of Elvis in his coffin that appeared on the front page of The
National Enquirer?

Was it because Gene Smith was the man who stated publicly that Elvis had met
with foul play on August 16, 1977 and it was Gene Smith who said "They've been
denying what I said about Elvis's face being bashed in, so lets see them deny a
picture!"?

Read Elvis's Man Friday and decide for yourself if the author is a "moron?"
Let Gene Smith speak for himself.

Gene was not the cousin who took the picture in the coffin. That was Billy
Mann.

Gene had not been close to Elvis since 1961 and that was Gene's fault not
Elvis'.

Elvis' face was not bashed in.

Just what we need, another book of fiction.

The all knowing Marty has spoken. How much money have you made for EPE
by doctoring up Elivs' image Marty? What did they tell you to get you

Jerry,

Marty may be a wiseass, but he's also right on all counts.

Hell, everyone knows Billy Mann took that picture.

And to suggest Marty works for EPE is ridiculous. He'd rather starve to
death.

Is Billy Mann ever mentioned at all in any Presley bio book?? Outside of him
taking that picture, I don't recall ever reading anything about the guy. Im
assuming he wasnt around too much. Was he involved at all the Presley
circle?(Marty?) Did he ever work for Elvis or hang out with him? Or was he just
one of those cousins who showed up once in a blue moon? For a handout perhaps?
Has anybody else ever read any Presley anecdote involving Billy Mann? (outside
of that famous picture of course) Is he still alive?

(outside of that famous picture of course )
On page 140 of Revelations of the Memphis Mafia , Billy Smith tells the story
of the $1,000 bills that Elvis left on the bed and he called his relatives
upstairs one by one then left the room to test them. Elvis found it was Billy
Mann that could not be trusted.
I think he was the only one. Marty??

That's correct. he took some of the money.

He was not close to Elvis and Elvis didn't not want him around.

He died mysteriously in a one vehicle accident years ago.

If you check the internet, he didn't really die in the 'accident'. He was
switched two days earlier with Jesse.
It's in a book......

Good ole Billy man. What a rambunctious , mischievious, corky, kid he was. Little
Billy Mann was allways getting himself into those zany situations. It sounds like
he needed some 'smartin up' slaps to the head from his big cousin.
